Will spend tonight in Miami - have a meeting in the morning before I head for Columbia.
Came through Texas to get here ... and learned something doing it.
You know how they say everything is
bigger in Texas? Well, they're wrong. They have nothing on the Big Black Mamas you find here in Miami.
I collided with one trying to get onto the shuttle-bus (the concept of standing in line doesn't apply here).
I didn't stand a chance! It was like getting hit by a car! I travelled 5 feet - airborne! - and landed in
a heap in front of the bus.
And she wasn't even moving that fast! Oye!

Alejandro & Jorge
Arrived in Medellin around 7:30 PM. The airport was broken, so we waited while they brought a ladder to deplane us. Beautiful warm night.
I was expecting a couple of people to pick me up. But the closest I could find were a couple of guys holding up a sign that
said "David Rock". After some discussion it turned out that
I'm David Rock. :-)
Everyone I've met is super friendly - the customs people, the folks at the hotel, the security people, and especially the two gentlemen
who drove to the airport to pick up David Rock. That them you see in the picture: Alejandro (pron: Alley-Hand-Row) and his
good uncle Jorge (proc: Hoar-Gay). The picture was taken as we enjoyed some Columbian Coffee by the pool-side at my hotel.
We also had some Flan De Leche (milk-flan .. very unique) and Ajiaco Soup (essentially chicken & potatoe soup - pron: Ah-he-ah-ko).
Tomorrow, when there is light, I shall take pictures of the area.
Stubborn Elevator:
The bellman helped me take my stuff to my room. We pushed 4 on the elevator and ended up on the 5th floor. He said it happens a lot,
so we tried again. Ended up on the 3rd floor. Next time pushing 4 took us to 6. Took 5 tries to end up on 4. As we were walking
to my room, he said: "I do not think it actually matters which button we push." ... I'll take the stairs tomorrow. :-)
